In honor of third-grader Kayla Lemons, students at Stonewall Tell Elementary School have joined with the community to create a memorial on the school's campus. Kayla lost her life in the tragic auto accident on Camp Creek Parkway that claimed the lives of five people on Easter Sunday. The school will remember her by developing an outdoor reading area adjacent to its "Magic Garden." "Kayla's Reading Carden" will include benches, flower beds, trees and a plaque about Kayla. In addition, the school's library will develop a special collection of books that highlight her reading interests. The school's initial goal is to place 100 books in the "Kayla Lemons Collection" and to expand the collection by donating books each year on her birthday. Work on the memorial will begin at 9 a.m. Saturday, with the dedication at 9:45 a.m. Tuesday. Kayla, who was 9, was killed along with her mother, father and infant brother in the hit-and-run accident on Camp Creek Parkway. A south Fulton woman has since been charged in the tragedy.
